This year at AUMC we are going to try a hands-on mission activity called “Rise Against Hunger” on Saturday, April 28. We will gather at Dexter Hall at 11 am and spend 2 hours packaging dried food into individual packages. This will take about 2 hours. We need 40 people to do the packing. This can include children accompanied by adults. Afterwards we will be served lunch.
This project was started by a United Methodist minister and the food is shipped to areas where people are suffering starvation because of drought or war. Pastor Diane Rehfield took part in a “Rise Against Hunger” event at a Clergy Conference and described it as lots of fun. The food we are packaging will be purchased with funds that we provide as part of our registration for a Rise Against Hunger event.
